Reformer Pilates in Denver: A Practical Guide

Classical Pilates Reformers inside the Denver Pilates Girl studio

What is a Pilates Reformer?

A Reformer is a Pilates apparatus with a moving carriage, springs, straps, and a footbar. The springs can provide resistance, assistance, or both, depending on the exercise. Because the setup changes, the same apparatus can support foundational work and more complex sequences.

Reformer Pilates is not simply mat exercise performed on a machine. The carriage and springs give immediate feedback: you can feel whether a movement is controlled, balanced, and connected through your center.

What a Reformer session feels like

A session moves through purposeful sequences rather than isolated repetitions. You may work lying down, seated, kneeling, or standing, with transitions chosen to keep the workout organized. The pace should allow you to understand the exercise and manage the equipment safely.

Spring settings are not a score. More spring is not automatically harder, and lighter spring is not automatically easier. Your instructor chooses settings that match the exercise and the control it requires.

Reformer, Tower, and Wunda Chair

Denver Pilates Girl uses the Reformer as part of a broader Classical Pilates system that also includes the Tower and Wunda Chair. The Tower offers spring-based exercises from a stable mat surface. The compact Wunda Chair uses a spring-loaded pedal and asks for focused control. Moving among apparatus can reinforce the same Pilates ideas in different ways.

A session does not need to use every apparatus to be complete. The equipment chosen should support the lesson being taught that day.

Private or small-group Reformer Pilates?

Private Pilates offers direct one-on-one instruction and costs $95 for a single session. It is a practical choice when you are new to the equipment, want close feedback, or prefer an individually paced lesson.

Small-group equipment classes cost $40 and are capped at five clients. They combine shared class energy with a deliberately limited group size. Beginners who want preparation before group work can start with the three-private-session new-client offer.
